Why Taranaki EAL?
As a registered social worker with around 10 years’ experience in the Equine Assisted Learning field, I have crafted my ability to hold space for all participants to find authentic answers within themselves and leave them feeling empowered, confident and regulated. With a passion for the body-mind connection and co-regulation as a pathway to self-regulation, my work blends; skillfully facilitated equine experiences, mindfulness, creative expression, somatic awareness and nervous system regulation from a polyvagal lense, to create transformative programmes.
What previous participants are saying …
“Thank you for the thoughtful programming, the meaningful activities, and, most of all, your dedication to creating a unique and empowering experience. Our students really enjoyed the programme and have talked about it being the highlight of their week at school.”
— School liaison“My overall experience of accompanying the students to the Taranaki Equine Assisted Learning Program has been one of proudness. From watching their confidence grow with their interaction with the horses, their ability in working together as a team, learning new skills in self -awareness and of course their outstanding behaviour.
This professionally run course is very rewarding and beneficial to students.”
— School support staff“It was all really fun and the different activities that we did really helped me learn how to calm myself down and relax. My favourite parts were getting to care for the horses and leading them around, I found it difficult and scary at first but then once the horse and I felt more comfortable around each other it was much easier.”
